Question:
How Do I check the "Status" of deleted files, and what
can it tell me?
|
|
Answer:
The "Status" column of FinalData is a very useful tool
for determining the possibility of file recovery. After a cluster
scan is completed, the "Status" column can indicate if
a file or folder is simply deleted, overwritten or fragmented. You
can base your decision on whether to recover a file/folder or not,
by looking at this information.

|
Procedure:
If you do not see a column labeled "Status" in the
right window section of FinalData, follow these steps to display
the "Status" column:
- Select File
and choose Preferences.
- On the Column
tab, check the "Status" box (if not already checked).
- The column
should have now been added next to the "Name" column.
- If you only
see the file names, it means that the column view has been disabled.
- On the
program tool bar, click the "Columns" icon.
